Our Story
🥄 Ooragai Originals
Not a Brand. A Legacy Rekindled
Tastes Like Home
When was the last time a pickle made you close your eyes and whisper,
"Ayyo, this tastes like home!"
Maybe it was the sharp tang of mango dancing on your tongue.
Or the slow burn of chilli that lingered long after the bite.
Maybe it reminded you of your ammamma, bent over a steel bowl, mixing kaaram with practiced hands, the sun warming the terrace around her.
This is where our story begins.
Not in a factory. Not on an assembly line.
But in a home kitchen filled with the scent of roasted spices and handwritten recipes passed down through generations.
Built on Grandma’s Hands
We grew up with pickles that tasted like stories.
They were spicy, bold, sour, comforting.
And they were made with care, not convenience.
Over time, tradition was outsourced.
Pickles became commercial. The care was lost.
And the hands that once stirred love into every jar slowly faded into memory.
We decided to bring it all back.
With real ingredients, real recipes, and real care.
What Makes Ooragai Originals Truly OG?
This isn’t just about what goes into the jar.
It’s about how it gets there, and why it matters.
🌶 Signature Kaaram Blend
We don’t buy masala. We make it.
Our chilli mix is handcrafted using a curated blend of regionally sourced varieties.
This blend is the soul of every spoonful.
🍯 Small Batch and Handmade
Every batch is small, short, and slow.
Handmade from scratch, to keep every jar fresh and flavourful.
Just like how it was done at home.
🧂 Balanced Salt and Oil
We use just the right amount of oil and salt.
Never too much, never too little.
Our goal is to preserve the flavour, not mask it.
🧪 Clean Label Promise
No hidden ingredients. No fine print.
All our pickles are lab-tested, clean, and transparent.
What you read on the label is exactly what’s in the jar.
🫒 Cold-Pressed Oils (Select Pickles)
For certain pickles, we use premium cold-pressed oils.
These retain natural nutrients and enhance flavour.
It’s where taste meets tradition and health.
Preserving More Than Just Pickles
Every grandmother knew how to make them.
Our mothers? A few still do.
Today’s generation? Almost no one.
We are not just selling jars.
We are keeping the art of pickle-making alive.
In kitchens. In memories. On your plate.
